Apparently today is the day MLP: Friendship is Magic premiered 14 years ago
Now I never watched the show before I ended up sitting down with my little cousin and doing so, but it's wild to me the longevity of the show, it transcended eras
When MLP: FIM premiered its contemporaries were Star Wars The Clone Wars, Young Justice, Transformers Prime, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, Avengers Eearth's Mightiest Heroes, Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated, Phineas and Ferb, Batman the Brave and the Bold, etc
And when it ended, it's contemporaries were Amphibia, Gen: Lock, Harley Quinn, Infinity Train, Rick and Morty, Rise of the TMNT, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Star Wars Resistance, Transformers Cyberverse, Ducktales (2017), RWBY, Ninjago, The Amazing World of Gumball, Ben 10 (2016), etc
Not only that, but it also outlived a number of shows that released after it premiered, like Steven Universe, Ben 10 Omniverse, Voltron Legendary Defender, Gravity Falls, TMNT (2012), The Legend of Korra, Transformers Robots in Disguise (2015), Star Wars Rebels, etc some of which being successors/sequels to shows it was originally airing alongside (Star Wars The Clone Wars-Star Wars Rebels, Transformers Prime-Transformers RID2015, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien-Ben 10 Omniverse)

If anyone needs to laugh today, I BEG of you to go on Etsy and look at all the Matthew Lillard (or really any person you're hyperfixating on) stuff they have. I mean come on, you can get such amazing things like:

Was...this episode a saw parody? I mean, the traps were actually dangerous compared to the other traps shown in any scooby Doo series. Besides the fact that there was something telling the gang what to do on something originally meant to play music (Radio, tapes). On top of all that it came out one year after the last chapter of saw.

I know it's bad form to compare shows, and each has its unique strengths but be prepared to get sucker punched in the throat with this take.
Scooby doo: mystery incorporated did the "these kids are a nuisance/misfits" trope better than Avatar: legend of korra (and also gays, oop)
In Korra, Raiko, Lin and even Tenzin treat the god of their world and their disciples as annoying kids when the worst they do is stop racketeering and police brutality in season 1. This continues throughout the seasons with most villians and side characters blowing them off, and what's worse is the Krew never actually do anything on purpose to mess up republic city, they actually wanna help the citizens. Furthermore each of them have careers and prospects in each season, trying to be role models of "upstanding" citizens.
Compared to my darling Gang of highschool delinquents, who ride around in their hippie van and habitually skip school to poke around crime scenes. Also unlike the Krew helping republic city dwellers, the people of crystal cove are a tourist town. A tourist town built of having legit supernatural events and haunting. D'ya know what our mystery incorporated do? They've made it their life mission to fuck with their hometowns livelihood by solving these haunting, to the point that they get handcuffed/arested in a futile attempt to stop them from fucking with the towns income. Also also, any time, without fail they get their hands on explosives/guns/knives they will try to kill someone. People say LOK is brutal compared to ATLA cos of P'li? Fred tries to off his own father, they blow up a poolboy, they level a desert town with an ancient Spaniard ship and scooby doo wields honest to gods dual gatling guns in the final act.
I'm sorry but mystery incorporated would salt the graves of the Krew without a shread of hesitation or remorse.
Also just comparing TV portrayals velma/marcie is was more explicit and developed than Asami/korra xoxo
